LCI Announcements and Upcoming Events

Announcements

Welcome Students
Welcome back to all the returning students, we hope you enjoyed your break. We would also like to extend a warm welcome to all the new students that arrived this term.

INSURANCE and MEDICAL DOCUMENTS
ALL Students are required to obtain valid health insurance during their entire stay. Bring proof of your current insurance to Beth Loar in the Annex.

IMMIGRATION UPDATE
If you are an F-1 visa holder, you must report your new address to your immigration advisor. Students must update addresses with either Diana or Beth in the Annex

VT E-MAIL ACCOUNT
Every student to the Virginia Tech Language and Culture Institute will need to set up an e-mail account. This e-mail account will be used to send you important notices and bills. You will use this account as long as you are a Virginia Tech student. The e-mail username you choose is also called a PID, or "Personal IDentifier." With your PID and an associated password, you can access online Virginia Tech services. You will create your PID from the Generate PID page at https://webapps.es.vt.edu/pidgen/start.html. Your student identification number (printed on your student identification card) will be needed to set up your account.

TUITION PAYMENTS
Bills will be issued to self-pay students in class on Tuesday, January 24th Payment is due February 1st. Bills are paid at the university Bursar's Office in the Student Services Building or online at: https://www.lci.vt.edu/elp/Students/ with credit card only (not a debit card). Students who do not pay on time will be removed from class until their bills are settled, so it is important that you pay your bill as soon as you receive it.

IMPORTANT NOTICES

VTLCI publishes important notices for all students on its website in several locations. Students are strongly encouraged to subscribe to these services to make sure they receive important announcements and news. Signing up is as easy as entering your e-mail address on each site:

Campus Alerts
VT Alerts is Virginia Tech's Emergency Notification System. In a campus emergency, Virginia Tech will use several information delivery methods to reach students because, at any given time, one form of communications might be better to reach you than another. VT Alerts is one of the delivery means, and will send messages to cell phones, telephone numbers and e-mail accounts. Students are strongly encouraged to register for VT Alerts on the VT website at http://www.alerts.vt.edu/.
