VT Alerts Test Scheduled for Main Campus

Virginia Tech will conduct a full-scale test of its VT Alerts system on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for the Blacksburg campus. The test will occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

VT Alerts is a campus-wide warning system to inform students what to do in the event of a threatening situation. In a campus emergency, Virginia Tech will use several information delivery methods to reach students because, at any given time, one form of communications might be better to reach you than another. VT Alerts is one of the delivery means, and will send messages to cell phones, telephone numbers and e-mail accounts.

All students are strongly encouraged to register for VT Alerts. Registration takes only a minute or two. Directions are posted on the VT website at http://www.alerts.vt.edu/.

VTLCI National Capital Closed to More Fall II Enrollment

As of September 22, 2011, the Intensive English program at the National Capital (Falls Church, Virginia) location is closed to new enrollment for the Fall II term. Applications received after September 22 will be held for Spring I admission. The Spring session begins January 9, 2012.

Setting up your Wireless Account (Blacksburg)

Instructions on how to create a wireless account have been posted on the VTLCI website. Remember that when setting up the wireless access you must use your home e-mail account (your hotmail address, for example), and not your vt.edu address. To access these instructions, click here or copy the following address into your web browser: http://www.lci.vt.edu/elp/Students/How to request Wifi.pdf.

The VTLCI will be notified to review and approve your request. Once approved, you will receive e-mailed instructions for accessing the VT_WLAN wireless network on campus.
