INSURANCE
ALL Students are required to obtain valid health insurance during their entire stay.  Bring proof of your current insurance to Beth Loar in the Annex.

IMMIGRATION UPDATE
If you are an F-1 visa holder, you must report your new address to your immigration advisor. Students must update addresses with either Diana or Beth in the Annex.

VT E-MAIL  ACCOUNT and PID
Every student to the Virginia Tech Language and Culture Institute will need to set up an e-mail account. This e-mail account will be used to send you important notices and bills. You will use this account as long as you are a Virginia Tech student. The e-mail username you choose is also called a PID, or "Personal IDentifier." With your PID and an associated password, you can access online Virginia Tech services. You will create your PID from the Generate PID page at https://webapps.es.vt.edu/pidgen/start.html. Your student identification number (printed on your student identification card) will be needed to set up your account.  STUDENTS SHOULD CHECK VT EMAIL REGULARLY.

Last Day to drop classes is Tuesday, May 29th.

INSURANCE

Authorization for Leave
If you are not returning to LCI next term, Summer 1, please see Beth Loar who is located in the Annex for authorization regarding Transfer to another school or Vacation.  You must give notice if you will not return.

ANNUAL VACATION
Any student wishing to take Spring 1 as a vacation must seek approval.  To be eligible, you must have attended classes without interruption at the LCI since Fall 1, 2011, enroll in classes for Summer II, and be in good academic standing.  Turn in the completed pink “Leave/Departure Request” form to the Beth Loar in the Annex.
 

TRAVEL SIGNATURE
If you are planning to travel out of the United States during break, and you hold an F visa, you should obtain a travel signature.  You must have a DSO (immigration advisor) sign your I-20 so that you will be admitted to the US upon your return.  Please see bring your I-20 to Beth in the Annex for a travel signature.


PID
All Students should report their PIDs to Michelle Hash in the Main Office. All students are now required to have a Virginia Tech e-mail account. This account can be set up after you report to the school, when you will obtain your student ID number. For more information, go to:

TOEFL
Registration is now open for the TOEFL ITP (PBT). Please choose a date and time you would like to take the exam and register. Remember to choose carefully, as there are only a certain number of seats available and registration will close on Sunday, April 29th.   All students currently enrolled for Spring II are eligible to take the TOEFL ITP. Please remember to write down your time when you register.   Please click on the link of the date and time you would like to register. You will then be re-directed to the payment site.

All sponsored students are required to pay for the exam. The exam will no longer be billed to your sponsoring institution.

On the day of the test, remember to arrive 15 minutes early with your Hokie Passport. The ITP will be scored at the institute and the unofficial scores will be placed in the Annex and outside the main office under each student's Hokie Passport ID number the Monday following the test.

Welcome Students

Welcome back to all the returning students, we hope you enjoyed your break.  We would also like to extend a warm welcome to all the new students that arrived for the Spring 2 term.
 

TUITION PAYMENTS

Tuition Payments for self-pay students is due April 2nd.  You will receive your bill in class on March 26th. Bills are paid at the university Bursar's Office in the Student Services Building or online at: https://www.lci.vt.edu/elp/Students/  with credit card only (not a debit card).  Students who do not pay on time will be removed from class until their bills are settled, so it is important that you pay your bill as soon as you receive it.

IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION

All F and B visa holders must complete this form for tax purposes: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8843.pdf a hard copy is located in the Annex.  Feel free to ask Robert McGinnis at the Annex for assistance.   The deadline is April 15.
